Job Description
We are St Helens Borough Council

Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a modernising Council, which is passionate and ambitious for the children and families we support, our communities and our workforce. As part of our transformation journey, we continue to build on our progress and put children firmly at the centre of our care. We can only do this because of our highly valued, skilled, and supported workforce.
Making a Difference as Heritage Officer - Creative Underground Project

St Helens Borough Council is seeking someone with proven heritage experience to fulfil the role of Heritage Officer for the new National Lottery Heritage Funded Creative Underground project.

The programme is being planned to coincide when St Helens hosts the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture (BoC) in 2023. The BoC programme will revitalise interest in Heritage in St Helens, providing a strong base for the Heritage Officer role to develop its legacy and link into the St Helens Borough Council Heritage Action Plan.

The Creative Underground programme will provide communities with unique opportunities to participate in the rich cultural heritage of St Helens, shining a light on the plethora of creative individuals and groups, past and present

As Heritage Officer working on this project, you will be responsible for ensuring wide participation on a range of heritage activities to a wide variety of audiences and be responsible for delivering, developing and promoting the project to communities across the borough of St Helens as well as collaborating with project partners.

You will co-ordinate multiple engagement activities across the borough, be responsible for the project budget and archival management of digital files, as well as the supervision of various freelance arts and educational commissions. St Helens Library Service is the lead partner in this programme and you will work within the Archive Service team, reporting to the Archivist, if successful at interview.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:
• Previous experience of managing heritage projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Budget management experience

The role involves working with stakeholders and in partnership with other teams across the Council.
