Who we are

The Transport Team at St Helens Borough Council run a diverse fleet of vehicles, from cars and car derived vans to 32t GVW HGV’s. Our Team of 12 technicians and 2 apprentices inspect, service, maintain and repair a fleet of over 200 vehicles including diesel, electric and the first hydrogen RCV in the UK, as well as inspecting, servicing and repairing a large amount of Amenity horticultural and Grounds Maintenance plant and machinery. The Authority currently has 70 vehicles on its Operator licence with provision for up to 90. We are also an authorised examiner for motor vehicle testing for class 4 & 7 vehicles and carry out taxi compliance tests on behalf of the Councils licensing department.

We are seeking an ambitious individual with a desire to improve our team, while supporting the operational services by the provision of equipment to carry out their work safely and ensuring compliance. The successful applicant will work as part of a team on wide ranging items of plant, machinery and vehicles.
