Required to start as soon as possible. The Governors of Sherdley Primary School wish to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work each day with a child with a hearing impairment, therefore it is essential that you hold a BSL Level 3 qualification. The candidate should have at least two years’ work experience in a primary school setting, ideally within KS2, and possess the aptitude and desire to support the delivery of quality education. Previous experience of working with children, within a school setting, and with SEN is essential. The post is temporary and subject to continued funding.
We are looking for someone who has:
• BSL Level 3 or Level 6 interpreter level
• Experience of working with children in a school environment
• Numeracy/literacy skills (at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2)
• Knowledge of the KS2 curriculum
• Ability to relate well to children and adults
• Ability to work as part of a team
• An understanding of the role of the classroom support assistant and other professionals working in the classroom
• Ability to use relevant technology
• Understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
• Basic understanding of child development and learning
• Willingness to undertake minor first aid training as appropriate
