Job Description
We Are St Helens Borough Council

Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.

Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.

Making A Difference as a Sessional ACL Tutor

An exciting sessional opportunity has arisen to teach ESOL for St Helens Adult and Community Learning Service.
The Adult and Community Learning team wishes to recruit a focused and committed tutor, who has ESOL qualifications and face-to-face experience of preparing ESOL learners for exams, as soon as possible.
Working under the direction of the Adult Skills Development Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the design and delivery of quality ESOL courses which prepare learners for exams. The key duties include planning, delivery and assessment of courses which lead to qualifications for adult ESOL learners.
• ESOL is taught from Pre-Entry to Entry 3. There will be a minimum of 4 classes per week across this range of levels, plus paid meeting and CPD hours.
There will generally be no more than 9 learners per class and classes will be levelled to ensure that the ability range is manageable, and tutors can focus on learner needs.
We are interested in talking to experienced tutors, qualified to teach ESOL, who are learner-focused, diligent with paperwork and keen to progress learners in a community learning environment.

In return for your commitment, we can offer you a position in a friendly and committed team, a competitive salary and an annual programme of continuous professional development opportunities.

Previous applicants need not apply.
