Making A Difference as A Senior Environmental Health Officer (Housing)
1 x Fixed term (3 years) – SEHO – Housing Standards functions
1 x Fixed term (until 31 March 2025) – SEHO – Supported Housing Improvement Programme (SHIP) Project

An exciting opportunity has arisen for suitably motivated and qualified Environmental Health Officers to join our busy Housing Standards Team.

The posts will require the successful applicants to work with existing data sources, vulnerable tenants and a range of agencies in order to ensure compliance with housing standards and HMO licence requirements.

The ideal applicants will have a thorough knowledge of housing standards legislation and building construction. This will include an excellent understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and its application with previous practical experience of housing enforcement. The successful candidates will enable housing and community improvements through proactive work with landlords, tenants and other stakeholders, and will progress cases to enforcement action as necessary. Other key skills required for the post include a high standard of computer literacy, as well as the ability to prioritise, plan and manage complex projects to a satisfactory conclusion.

The post holders will be able to work remotely or from an agile work hub and will undertake site visits and inspections of properties across the borough.

Both posts will suit qualified EHOs looking to extend their housing knowledge and experience.
