Required for a September start a Level 3 Senior Learning Assistant to work in Key Stage 4 Pupil Referral Unit in St Helens based at The Beacon Building.
Pupil Referral Units (PRU) are for pupils at risk of exclusion from mainstream school, who are experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Several pupils are dual registered with the PRU and their mainstream school. The remainder are single registered with the PRU due to permanent exclusion.
The person appointed will support the learning and personal development of pupils on site. This may include one to one or in class support, delivering to small groups, possible support with Outdoor Education and sport activities as well as lunch and break duty.
Enthusiasm, a good team ethic and an understanding of working with pupils with challenging behaviour is essential. Experience of working with vulnerable young people is an advantage, as is a resilient attitude.
We hope to employ a candidate who is a good classroom practitioner, and who will help us to improve the academic and social progress of our pupils.
