A unique and dynamic role based within TESSA – Autism
It is exciting times here in St Helens as our newly branded TESSA Autism invite you to join us, and be part of our future offer to children and young people in our town.
TESSA Autism are very proud to be an AET training partner for the CPD-accredited Professional Development Programme. We want to ensure our children and young people are taught and supported by staff who really understand them and who can make reasonable adjustments in a responsive and supportive way. We want you to be one of our trainers too!
TESSA Autism are also working collaboratively with our children, families, schools and colleagues within education, health and the community to deliver the Autism in Schools Project initiative. As well as training, you will be an integral part of a team making the project a success!
TESSA Autism offer a peripatetic service, observing, assessing and working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and SEN in mainstream schools, academies and colleges. You will be joining a small but highly regarded team of teachers and specialist support staff endeavouring to make a real difference.
The role will offer you an opportunity to work within a vibrant and changing environment and will provide opportunities for creative and innovative thinking, problem solving and action.
You will be great at working collaboratively, flexibly and with initiative!
Being highly focused on achieving ambitious outcomes for children and young people with autism and other SEN will be vital to your role.
As a specialist teacher you will
• Manage your own diary and case load effectively
• Travel between schools and colleges, home and designated bases or hubs most days
• Work closely with a range of professionals across education, health and social care as well as the voluntary sector
• Demonstrate considerable understanding of autism, language development, social communication difficulties
• Share your in-depth understanding of SEN and up to date pedagogy with schools and TESSA teams
• Confidently challenge, promote and support inclusive practices, enabling children and young people to be fully engaged in their learning and social development
• Utilise your excellent analytical and report writing skills
• Enhance other people’s knowledge and skills in relation to autism in all areas of your work
• Work collaboratively with the team to deliver interventions that make a difference
