Making A Difference as A Sports Coach in Place Services Directorate
Minimum 2 hours per week – (with potential for additional hours as programmes develop)
for 6 months pending funding.
St Helens Sports Development are looking for 3 new members of staff who are passionate about improving the health and well-being of people from across the borough.

Our vision is to create a healthy and physically active borough, where all members of the community are encouraged and enabled to take part in physical and sporting activities. Put simply we want ‘more people, more active, more often’.

You will be joining an ambitious and innovative team and your role will be to deliver a variety of sport and fitness sessions. As part of the St Helens Sports Development Team, you will be working with a variety of ages, from primary school pupils up 70+ years, delivering sessions including Couch to 5k (beginner walking/running), beginner fitness and general physical activities as we target the areas of the borough most in need of our support. You will need the following skills:

• Ability and confidence to work with people from a variety of age groups and backgrounds
• Ability to maintain accurate attendance figures
• Provide verbal feedback
• Excellent communication skills
• Empathy and understanding of the barriers to physical activity that people may face
• Qualified to a minimum of National Governing Body of Sport Level 1 or similar award (eg Fitness Instructor)
