Job Description
Required to start as soon as possible. This post is temporary as it is subject to SEN funding.

The Governors of Sherdley Primary School wish to appoint a Learning Assistant to work in KS1 in the morning and with a child in our Early Years Pre-school provision after lunch.

The candidate ideally should have at least two years’ work experience in a primary school setting and must have worked with children with complex needs. Candidates should possess the aptitude and desire to support the delivery of quality education and have high aspirations for children with Special Educational Needs. Previous experience of working with children, within a school setting, and with SEN is essential.

The role will consist of:
- Supporting pupils with complex needs, this may include some personal care
- Provide structured programmes to pupils
- Communicating with parents
- Preparing and maintaining teaching resources
- Assist in a high quality of provision of welfare for all pupils

Personal Qualities:
The applicant should be experienced, hard-working, enthusiastic, adaptable, able to show initiative and be part of a team. We are looking for someone who is has a calm, patient, and reflective manner. The successful candidate should have high expectations of themselves and our children. You must be a caring, responsible person who works well in a team. You must have an understanding of SEND within a primary school setting and have some experience of working with children with SEND. Ideally, you may have some experience of the delivery of phonics and intervention programmes.

This post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.
