Located in the heart of the North West close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.

Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.

Making A Difference as a Rehabilitation Officer (Visual Impairment) in Community Participation Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Rehabilitation Officer (Visual Impairment) to provide professional and responsive rehabilitation support for people who are experiencing the impact and challenges resulting from sight loss.

The candidate will be fully qualified and possess a Foundation Degree - Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment), Diploma in Higher Education - Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent. Candidates must have experience in undertaking specialist social care assessments, identifying eligible need and the care planning process. In this role you will be expected to undertake the full range of rehabilitation and support tasks. This will include the provision of outcome focused training in orientation and mobility, communication, low vision support, risk management and the development and maintenance of independent living skills.

You will have excellent communication skills, knowledge and experience of utilising ICT systems and the ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues, manage caseloads and prioritise competing demands.

In return you will work in a supportive team, receive regular supervision, and be encouraged to develop your professional expertise.
