Making A Difference as a Mechanical Brush Driver / Non HGV Driver within Open Spaces Spaces Services.

St. Helens Borough Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated operative to work on our weekend Team to provide all aspects of the street cleansing service.

This is a great opportunity to join an existing team of highly trained staff responsible for the maintenance of the street cleansing throughout the borough. It is essential for these areas to be maintained to a safe and high standard throughout the seasons.

St Helens Borough Council will offer you an attractive salary with an annual leave entitlement (rising after 5 years' service). A comprehensive range of employment benefits, including access to the local government pension scheme and sick pay scheme and on-site parking.

Duties will include maintenance of Streets, Parks, Open Spaces.

The successful applicant will be required to:

Drive any vehicle, excluding HGVs, in order to perform all activities that fall within the street cleansing service of St Helens Council.

Undertake driver’s daily checks, cleaning and maintenance of vehicles.

Sign in/out vehicle keys, and to ensure that any spare vehicle used is tipped and fuelled each day.

Carry out the removal of fly tipping, emptying of dog and litter bins, street sweeping and other duties as required.

Perform all tasks to the required level of productivity and quality.

Update current information to ensure work sheets are completed as necessary.

Taking on-site decisions in non-routine circumstances.

Pass on general communications to colleagues and being the point of contact for the office. To communicate by mobile phone/radio or in written form at the request of management.

Dealing with public enquiries relating to street cleansing.

Carry out work to written specifications, and subsequent completion of relevant documentation to agreed timescales, including timesheets & record of inspections

Applicants must have a full driving licence - minimum of category C1 with CPC.

Hours of work are Saturday 6am till 4pm (9.5hrs), and Sunday 7am till 3pm (7.5Hrs).
