Making A Difference as a Moving and Handling Advisor in Contact Cares, Reablement and Occupational Therapy

St Helens Cares is the new approach to delivering Health and Social Care in St Helens; bringing together a wide range of public and community service organisations to work in partnership, with a united goal of improving people’s lives and improving the place as a whole. St Helens Council is proud to be part of this partnership.

Key to this vision is Contact Cares; which aims to simplify the way we access health and social care services from nursing assessment to social care; reablement to audiology, safeguarding to occupational therapy.

Based at Nightingale House our Occupational Therapy Team are committed to supporting and assisting people with disabilities to improve their quality of life and be as independent as possible in their home environment. You should have an interest in developing your skills working with adults and children with disabilities who have complex needs and will be responsible for the completion of moving and handling assessments, detailed risk assessment reports, and offering moving and handling training to formal and informal carers.

You should have knowledge of up to date moving and handling techniques, including moving and handling equipment and a good understanding of complex physical disabilities. Experience in the provision of equipment and major adaptations and good IT skills would be an advantage. This is a 2 year fixed term post to support our single handed care project and you will join our existing moving and handling team.

You will be an experienced HCPC registered Occupational Therapist, confidently able to work on your own initiative, juggle a busy workload and build strong working relationships.
