Job Description
Required: ASAP

The governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic, passionate, and caring Level 3 Learning Assistant to provide support within our STRIDE (ASD) Provision at Wargrave Primary School.

STRIDE is a specialist resourced provision, for children with autism as their primary need and places are allocated through the EHCP process. There are two classes within our STRIDE provision (Year 1 – Year 6) and each class is supported with a Teacher and two Senior Learning Assistants (Level 3). The provision offers a blended approach of mainstream primary and a bespoke TEACCH (ASD specific) base for the children. STRIDE is situated in heart of the school and collaborative working is paramount.

The successful candidate will fully support the vision and ethos set for the provision and be committed to building pupils’ self-esteem, self-discipline and love of learning to underpin their progress in the basic skills. The role involves liaising with our STRIDE Leader to provide exceptional ASD provision and support.

This role will also include working with a variety of children (Year 1 – Year 6) with different needs and implementing ASD specific strategies. Furthermore, supporting communication, life skills, challenging behaviour, sensory and changing requirements.

We are looking for a candidate who has experience working with children with special educational needs and is keen to develop their professional knowledge of ASD.

Candidates must be calm under pressure, able to adapt strategies, form good relationships and to respond to individual’s needs of our wonderful children.

The successful candidate will play an active role with the implementation of EHCPs and Support Plans, to ensure the children’s needs are being met fully and removing barriers from their learning.

Application forms are available from www.sthelens.gov.uk and are returnable via online application by noon on or before the closing date.
