Making A Difference as A Assistant Active Live & Sports Development Officer in Place Service Directorate

St Helens Active Lives & Sports Development are looking for 2 new members of staff who are passionate about improving the health and well-being of people from across the borough.

Our vision is to create a healthy and physically active borough, where all members of the community are encouraged and enabled to take part in physical and sporting activities. Put simply we want ‘more people, more active, more often’.

You will be joining an ambitious and innovative team and your role will be to support development work with local sports clubs and community groups, and deliver a variety of sport and fitness sessions. As part of the team, you will be working with a variety of ages, from primary school pupils up 70+ years, delivering sessions including Couch to 5k (beginner walking/running), beginner fitness and general physical activity, as we target the areas of the borough most in need of our support. You will need the following skills:

· Ability and confidence to work with people from a variety of age groups and backgrounds
· Ability to work in partnership with sports clubs, community organisations and leisure facilities, to increase participation in sport and physical activity.
· Excellent communication skills
· Empathy and understanding of the barriers to physical activity that people may face
· Qualified to a minimum of Level 2 accredited Fitness Instructor qualification, or National Governing Body of sport coaching qualification, (minimum Level 1) or industry equivalent.
