Job Description
We are a busy, friendly and well supported Legal team situated in the Merseyside area, with good transport links to surrounding areas. We have embraced new ways of working and the role will predominantly feature hybrid/remote hearing, offering a high level of flexibility, allowing staff to take control of their work/life balance.

St Helens Council is inviting applications for an Adult Social Care Solicitor.

The solicitor role will cover a wide and varied case law of Adult Social Care matters, including ordinary residence disputes, mental capacity including DOLS, mental health and the Care Act 2014. Experience of Education law is desirable but not essential as the primary focus will be on Adult Social Care Law. You will be responsible for advising on all aspects of law relevant to Adult Social Care, to include representing the Council in the Court of Protection and County Court. Advocacy experience is therefore desirable.

We welcome applications from Solicitors, Barristers and Legal Executives with experience of advising in relation to Adult Social Care matters. Whether you are newly qualified or have significant experience of Adult Social Care built from a career in the public or private sector, we are interested to hear from you.

Council employees are required to abide by the ethical standards embodied by the 7 NOLAN principles of conduct in public life. These include selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.

We welcome applications from the BAME community
