Job Description

We Are St Helens Borough Council

Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.

Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.

Making A Difference as a ICT Technical Service Desk Analyst
Two vacancies have become available for highly motivated individuals who want to play a key part in the delivery of ICT services and support to our customers.

Working flexibly in Lincoln House and from home, you will be part of a multi-faceted team, dealing with enquiries from users of a varying technical and professional standing.

The individual we’re looking for will have;

· Experience of working within a demanding customer-focused front-line service, ideally within an IT Service Desk environment
· Good written, telephone and face-to-face communication skills
· Ability to work on your own at times and use your initiative and multitask
· Good IT skills and use of IT hardware, software operating systems and packages
· Access to your own vehicle
· Knowledge and understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) environments would be an advantage

It is important that you can cope with a demanding workload, work to tight deadlines, and be able to support other team members with the overall responsibilities of the service in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You must be flexible in your approach to work to meet the needs of the service and have a desire to develop and learn further skills.

The successful candidates would preferably have experience of the preparation, deployment and support of ICT and could be brought in at the Junior grade. However, as the post is career graded, a Trainee appointment would be considered, and appropriate training provided to bring them up to the Junior and Practitioner levels.

The standard operating hours for this post are 8:00am to 5:15pm Monday to Friday working on a rota basis.
However, this post requires the flexibility to cover service demands as and when required e.g. between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
