At St Helens Borough Council we are committed to working as an integrated team to deliver the best outcomes for our children. An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 new Social Work posts in St Helens to be part of the newly formed Complex Safeguarding Team.
As a Social Worker in this team you will be responsible for leading on and developing practice in relation to complex safeguarding interventions. Co working and/or supporting allocated Social Workers in their interventions to reduce risk, with the absolute aim to deliver the best possible service to our children. You will ensure that the Pan Merseyside protocol is adhered to and support practice improvements in this area. Working with partners and developing relationships will be key in this role. Providing services for and with children and families across the borough, you will be part of an integrated team, based within St Helens MASH working alongside our key partners, Police, Health Catch 22 and Community Safety, at a time of real opportunity for new developments which will benefit from your ideas and initiative.

You will report to and be supported by the Complex Safeguarding Service Lead with regular supervision and opportunities for training and development.

If you have excellent knowledge and experience of complex safeguarding and the associated legislation, guidance and practice, this is a great opportunity for you to benefit from working with the St Helens team and being part of growing the vision for improving services to our most vulnerable children.

The successful candidate should be able to meet the following criteria.

• Social Work qualified and hold at least 3 years post qualifying experience.
• Have experience and knowledge of complex safeguarding practices, procedures and legislation
• Have a commitment to anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice.
• A vision and passion for developing and leading on reducing harm for children experiencing complex safeguarding.
• A drive to working in partnerships and bring challenge where necessary to improve outcomes for children.
• The ability to engage directly with children and young people and advise and lead on successful interventions to reduce risk for children affected by complex safeguarding issues.
• Be an active researcher and develop practice in the service with the service lead in relation to successful interventions for managing complex safeguarding risks.

The salary for this post is SCP 29-32 however, consideration will be given to an additional £2,000 recruitment and retention allowance upon appointment for experienced Social Workers.
