Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Digital Communications Officer to join our fast-paced communications teams. The ideal candidate will bring new experience, skills and ideas into the team.

The position is fixed term for a period of 12 months. Your hours of work will be 37 per week.

We are a small joint team delivering Communications, Marketing, PR and Engagement, for both the Council and CCG. Size doesn’t limit our ability to make St Helens a better place through great content, understanding our audiences and developing our channels.

St Helens Borough Council has got big plans for our borough over the next decade. We are committed to boosting economic growth, regenerating our town centres, tackling deprivation and reducing inequality and transforming our organisation.

Our ambitions include communications that both change behaviour, build community independence, attract new partners and investors to the borough and instil a sense of pride in local people.

This is a new post dedicated to developing and delivering our digital communications. Never has the need been more apparent than during our response to the pandemic and we want to continue to accelerate what we’ve achieved in the last 12 months.

The role requires the ability to be able to write to a good standard, create rich media assets for our digital channels; and have experience of using various social media platforms and content management systems.

We need someone who is both creative and technical, who can keep on top of new and innovative ways to engage digitally and has a knack for testing and trouble shooting.

Council employees are required to abide by the ethical standards embodied by the 7 NOLAN principles of conduct in public life. These include selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

We welcome applicants from the BAME community.

If you’d like to have an informal chat about the role, please contact James Tuck, Digital Communications Lead on 07742 400794
