Job Description
Following the retirement of our current headteacher, the Governing Body, staff, and children of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Birchley are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, inspirational, and reflective practising Catholic, to work alongside our existing, highly experienced deputy headteacher and with our dedicated staff.

Our school offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to lead the school in its continued drive to ensure that all our children, and staff, are inspired, challenged, and supported to be the best that they can be.

We are looking for a Headteacher with strong leadership qualities who can build upon the school’s success. We are looking for someone who:

• Is a committed, practising Catholic with a clear understanding of the ethos and vision of a Catholic School. A headteacher who will put our Catholic ethos at the heart of all they do.
• Has extensive leadership experience and proven success in a senior leadership role in a Catholic Primary School setting.
• Puts pupils first – a headteacher who can continue to drive our curriculum improvements forward so that all children, regardless of ability, are excited by their learning and are highly motivated and challenged to be the best that they can be.
• Has a proven track record of raising standards across all key stages.
• Has a clear vision, the drive and desire to take our school forward.
• Is innovative and can bring new ideas to build on current success.
• Will continue to raise standards, expectations, and performance further by building on existing good practice and inspiring staff and pupils.
• Will encourage, motivate, support, and develop staff, constantly seeking improvement and sharing our aspiration to be outstanding in all areas.
• Is very approachable; has excellent interpersonal skills; is a good listener and an excellent communicator.
• Who can work closely with all stake holders and form positive relationships/partnerships with our children, staff, parents, Governors, the parish, the archdiocese, and wider village community.

In return we can offer:
• A school, described in our last Outstanding RE Inspection as an ‘extremely supportive and joyful community’ where ‘the behaviour of pupils is exemplary.’
• A school, described in our last Ofsted Inspection as a school where, ‘all pupils, including those with SEND, experience an exemplary range of opportunities that enhance their personal development.’
• A school that helps, and supports, all children and staff in their journey to ‘be the best they can be.’
• An ambitious, supportive, and engaged Governing Body.
• A friendly, hardworking, and dedicated staff who are fully committed to the children in their care.
• Parents and carers who are supportive of their school
• A fantastic opportunity to lead the school in the next stage of its development.
• A commitment to your wellbeing and professional development.

More information is available on the school website, including our latest Ofsted and Religious Education Inspection Reports.

Candidates are welcomed and encouraged to visit the school. To arrange a visit please contact us on 01744 678610.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
