Job Description
We Are St Helens Borough Council

Located in the heart of the North-west close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council, which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.

Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.

Making A Difference as a Senior Arts in Libraries Officer in St Helens Library Service
This is an opportunity to join the Library Service’s Cultural Hubs Arts in Libraries programme.

This post is responsible for the operational management of the St Helens Library Service, Arts Council England (ACE) National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) programme of work, delivering the programme to the SMART objectives set out in the NPO Activity Plan and NPO Investment Principles Plan.

We are looking for someone with knowledge and understanding of excellence and diversity in the arts and an understanding of the importance of libraries within communities and the role that arts can play within libraries.
You will have project management experience of delivering successful arts programmes and you will have experience of managing and developing staff.

In line with our new ways of working, this role is hybrid and will involve working from home as well as working across St Helens Libraries as required. There is also an opportunity to work from our agile hubs in St Helens Town Centre.

The post is 37 hours per week.

This post is temporary until 31st March 2026 and its continuation is dependent upon securing further funding from Arts Council England.
