Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team and we are seeking to employ an enthusiastic individual to the role of Revenues and Benefits Officer.

You will have experience of working in Local Government and ideally have knowledge of the Capita One Revenues & Benefits System and the Information@Work Enterprise document imaging system.

The successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with and processing applications for assistance from vulnerable households or individuals who are in crisis. A knowledge and understanding of the various discretionary schemes Local Authorities are responsible to administer will therefore be required.

Empathy and decision-making skills against defined standards, policy and procedures will play an important part in the job role. You will have experience of data input to computerised systems, scanning and indexing and the ability to update and maintain accurate records.

You must have good communication skills both written and verbal, be customer focused, have the ability to deal with complex enquires and work unsupervised in a demand lead setting. Experience of using Microsoft products, web based services and email will also be required.

We would particularly welcome applications from those who have knowledge and experience of administering Housing Benefits and or Council Tax discounts, exemptions and reliefs.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week on an agile basis and is a career graded position. Remuneration will depend on knowledge and experience of the position.
