We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.

Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.

Making A Difference as an ACL Sessional Tutor

Are you passionate about lifelong learning? St Helens ACL have an exciting opportunity for sessional tutors to join our team. We are looking for enthusiastic tutors to deliver outstanding teaching and learning in our local community. We are currently recruiting a tutor(s) with the experience and skills to provide the highest possible teaching and learning experience to the following groups of learners:

• Childcare and Education (specifically L2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools)
The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges. The course combines classroom delivery and work-based assessment in school placements throughout the Borough.

• English (Functional Skills)
We deliver Functional Skills qualifications in English from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. These qualifications support learners to develop the skills and knowledge they need to read, write, speak, listen and communicate at the appropriate level and apply these skills in a full range of situations. In addition, we also offer non-accredited pre-entry provision to those learners who need further support to progress to a qualification. Delivery will take place in our Park Road Centre and at various community venues across the Borough.

• Family Learning
Family learning activities are specifically designed to enable parents to learn how to support their children’s maths and English learning and encourages family members to learn together as a family. This supports parents to be able to meaningfully engage in their child’s learning and life at school, whilst enhancing their own educational skills and employment opportunities. Delivery will take place across various venues/schools across the Borough.

The role of an ACL tutor is interesting, enjoyable and above all, hugely rewarding. To join our successful, supportive and dedicated team you will need to show that you:

• have experience of working with adult learners.
• are motivated to make learning fun, enjoyable and inspirational.

• are flexible to teach various hours during the week (this may, by agreement, include evenings for some provision)
