The Cleaning, Caretaking and School Crossing Patrol Service are currently looking to recruit a Mobile Caretaker. You will be required to cover primarily for absent Caretakers at Schools and other buildings throughout the borough.
You will be contracted for a minimum of 20 hours per week. On occasions there will be a requirement for you to work up to 37 hours per week, dependent upon the needs of the service. The additional hours may be requested at short notice to cover for absences of Caretakers at Schools and other buildings throughout the borough.
Your times of work will be between the hours of 0600 and 1800, dependent upon the School / Council building you will be required to work.
Flexibility within this role is also required to cover absences of Cleaning and School Crossing Patrol staff across the borough to meet the needs of the service.
The Mobile Caretaker role consists of:
-Opening and securing buildings
-A range of cleaning duties
-Basic DIY
-General day to day duties at the request of the Head teacher/Site Manager, within Health & Safety regulations.

Applicants must have the ability to prioritise their work and have good communication skills. The successful candidate will be required to communicate with Head teachers, Site Managers, Caretakers, Cleaners and the general public.
You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and also in a team environment.
You will be expected to complete basic paperwork i.e. timesheets, stock control forms, Health & Safety inspection sheets, and work request forms.
Qualifications in Building Cleaning are desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will however be expected to undertake any relevant qualifications.
Holidays must be taken during the school holiday periods.
You must have a current full driving licence and own a car, for which mileage at the appropriate rate will be paid. There is a requirement for you to have Business Use Car Insurance. If an applicant cannot drive as they are precluded by disability applications are still welcome. Applicants are asked to provide a statement as to how they will be in a position to alternatively meet the requirements to enable the duties to be carried out effectively and efficiently with reasonable adjustments.
