The Council have entered a 20-year £200M partnership with the English Cities Fund for regeneration of the Borough. This initial focus is on the St. Helens and Earlestown town centre areas. However, the partnership also extends to the whole borough, whereby the Council’s land and assets has the potential to be developed in partnership.

The Council have a longstanding Joint Venture (JV) Partnership with Langtree for the delivery of regeneration ambitions to the former Parkside Colliery. The site has recently been identified as the largest proposed tax site as part of the Liverpool City Region Freeport. This programme will deliver multi-million capital infrastructure improvements of the JV asset which includes Parkside Link Road (including M6 J22 improvements), Parkside West and Parkside East (including engagement with National Infrastructure bodies for road infrastructure provision, drainage, telecommunications, power, structural landscaping, etc). Initial infrastructure estimates are in excess of £80M for this phase, which indicates the extent of the programme and potential for economic growth.
